New Years Wish – wanderlust

“Get out the map, get out the map
and lay your finger anywhere down,
We’ll leave the figuring to those we pass
on our way out of town…”
— Indigo Girls
“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”
– Casare Pavese
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain
“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.”
– Bill Bryson

New Years Wish – Healthful Living

a strawberry affirmation

Hold on. Put it down. Look how far you’ve come.
Look at your goals.
Think of how great you’re going to feel once you hit those goals.
Do you really want that? Do you NEED it? No.
Don’t eat it, it’s not healthy.
Go eat some fruit to replace that, you can do this. You are not a failure, you are strong and you can stick to your goals.
Save that superpretty cupcake for later, when you really deserve it.
If you eat it now, you’ll just feel gross, unhealthy and discouraged after.
Say no, it’s not good for you.
I love you more than that.
xoxo

New Years Wish – Live Elegantly

“My advice is to go ahead and wear an apron when you’re cooking dinner. Always send a handwritten thank you note on your personal stationary. Enjoy tea served from an actual tea pot. Dream. Dress up when you go out. Be polite. Believe in art and its incredible power to reach across ethnic and social boundaries to enhance our souls. Ditch the handhelds when you’re out. Listen to Mozart. Watch “It Happened One Night”. Live elegantly. And enjoy it while it lasts.”
