Music Monday – Glory of Love

I’m super giddy about finally writing a story with THIS SONG as theme on the playlist.
It’s so super swoony. Okay, 80’s swoony, but still.
(FALLING FOR HER SOLDIER, coming in January!)
And it got me to thinking about my sister and a very important question:
Ahem. Sister, which Peter Cetera song is best? I know which one you’ll pick, but I vote for this one. Yeah, I know, your pick is good too, and really dreamy, and the movie it’s from is like the best movie ever–especially the scene when your song plays–and the actor is so super cute, and yeah, okay…you win.

Henry’s playlist – iPod giveaway!

Ah, amore. You gotta love that “can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t think” feeling. We all have playlists that help convey our emotions, and Spring–my main character in Definitely, Maybe in Love–explains why she is on an “all-chick musical kick.” Bossy and opinionated (though adorably sexy), Henry sets out to widen Spring’s (ahem) musical exposure with a playlist of his own: All male singers and all with one similar “theme.” ๐Ÿ™‚

TO PLAY: Tell me your favorite make out song, either on Twitter using #HenryPlaylist, or in the comments (don’t forget your email addy). If you’re the winner, the prize is an iPod shuffle, and your song will be added to the official “Spring’s Education of the Mail Voice” playlist…straight from Henry.

(Warning: per Spring, no Marvin Gaye, no Prince and no Barry White. Thatโ€™s just too easy.)

Music Monday – Spring’s iPod

Music always plays an important role when I’m writing a book, and I always, always make a playlist for my stories. Back in the day before iTunes or Spotify, I used to burn CD’s. I call them my “songs from and inspired by [insert title].”
DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE is special because it has three playlists. One for the story: songs that move the plot along and songs that might be playing in certain scenes. Because my two main characters–Spring and Henry–are really into music but their tastes are so different, I naturally had to give each of them their own playlist. What’s doubley fun is Henry’s playlist is actually one he made for Spring in the book. But…more on that later. ๐Ÿ™‚
(to see Henry’s Playlist contest, clicky HERE)
Spring’s taste in music leans toward the female musician, everything from angry rocker chicks (because sometimes it feels good to be ticked off) to cool coffeehouse guitar songbirds. Check out the tracks you might Spring jamming to…before Henry’s musical education, that is.
Spring’s iPod:
“Heart Attack” by Demi Lovato

“All I Really Want” by Alanis Morissette

“Ignorance” by Paramore
“Built this Way” by Samantha Ronson
“Morningside” by Sara Bareilles

“Extraordinary” by Liv Phair

“Closer” by The Corrs
“Walk Over Me” by Dirty Blonde
“Chivas” by Kelly Clarkson
“Narcissus” by Alanis Morissette
“Out of Reach” by Gabrielle
“Ex-Girlfriend” by No Doubt
“The Only Exception” by Paramore
“Criminal” by Fiona Apple
“Overboard” by Ingrid Michaelson
“So Pure” by Alanis Morissette
“True Love” by P!nk
“Still Into You” by Paramore
